Super Bowl XLII

The Super Bowl this year was one of the best, and will probably be one of the all time classics I will get to view on ESPN classic when older. This game might have been foreseen in 1998. The Denver Broncos of 1998 with John Elway, Terrell Davis, and Coach Mike Shanahan, 3 of my favorite and most positive guys to ever play the game, were 13-0 and well on their way to a perfect season. This is the only team I personally wouldn't have minded to stand along side the 1972 Dolphins.

The 13-0 Broncos were set to play the 5-8 New York Giants. The Giant's coach had written a message on the white board leaving the locker room. It said 3 simple words, "Shock the World". I don't know if those words are still there, but on that day they shocked the world by stopping the Broncos from a perfect season, and have continued to do the Dolphins work for them. The world is shocked with the win over the Patriots.

I normally don't look at the random records television officials bring up, however, there are some pretty interesting ones with the New York Giants team of 2007. The Giants are the first EVER in the NFC to be a wild card team and make it to the Super Bowl. The Giants are the first EVER to be World Champion and only have 1 person going to the Pro Bowl next week. The Steelers in 2005 were the wild card team for AFC and won the Super Bowl. This means within the last 3 seasons 2 world champions came from the wild card, something that has only happened 3 times before in the history of the NFL.
